How do you get father's to communicate with their daughters

UHM....31 years later and I still don't know how to get MY dad to communicate with if you figure this out, I would LOVE to know the trick/secret!

Our daddy/daughter days are trail rides on horseback in the mountains and no words are exchanged so that one doesn't work for me.

YET, my hubby and his daughter communicate ALL the time (even though he doesn't always want to hear what she has to say.)! She is his baby girl and I have to keep reminding him to just listen and not always try and protect or prevent things from happening, somethings aren't a big deal and he has to realize she will grow up!

I refuse to be a go between. My oldest is momma's girl and she prefers me to tell her dad things and no matter how big or small I don't do it. I also encourage her to tell him things like I'll say tell daddy what happened at school today. I also am pushy at getting him to do day to day things with her but he is really good at daddy and girls activities that get them out of the house.

The only things I can think of is to try to communicate with the father about it & pray for the players involved.
