You can get a nice dress at JC Penney for anywhere from $45-$120. You might also look at Marshalls/Ross/TJMax.Shoes are tough, but she may already have ones that work with it and you might even have a matching purse & jewelry. She can go to the counter at Dillards or Macy's for a free make-up session and hair, well, unless she goes to a beauty school (with plenty of time to spare) that may go more like $65+. The Limo really isn't necessary unless you don't trust the drivers, in which case, could be the way to go to be safer, but she would definitely have to split the cost.

$100 dress, $20 shoes, $20 accessories, $10 makeup, $40 hair and the limo get them to split it with friends/date and it won't be too bad. You are looking at about $25. All together around $215 for a good night.

just remember it is only a prom and not her wedding. Set a budget - let her decide what she spends where - a good learning experience - maybe say what ever she doesn't spen can go in a university fund. PS everyone is going to be inside so no one will see how she arives anyway so i would ether share a limo with a friend or cut it out all together.

My parents never spent anything on my prom. They told me it was up to me. I had a job. As a result I spent much less & planned ahead with my money. I think it's really helped me in the long run. I will probably sit my daughter down and tell her "I will pay this much but the rest is up to you." Not paying for it all but enough to help out.
