How tough was it mentally and physically for you to go back to work after having the baby? How long did you wait to go back to work?

My first child, I went back three days a week when she was 3mths. It was so hard as I has postnatal depression. I wanted to stay at home, but it was a money issue. My second child I stayed off for 6mths, which was better though still hard....But they both have now developed a lovely relationship with their grandparents.

My daughter just turned two months old this past Sunday and today is my fourth day back to work. I miss her like crazy but it helps knowing that she's at home with family. Each day seems to be getting easier, I think it helps that I enjoy my work. Not to mention, I try to look at the bright side. When I do get home and spend time with her I cherish every moment I have with her.

yeah it is very hard to go back to work and leaving the little angel at home with most likely a stranger. i went back to work when my baby turned 3 months. i used to cry and when am at work call every minute to find out how she is doing. i used to looking forward to going home in the evening. with my first baby i had to quit my job. my baby needed me.

It is hard. Today is my first day back in four months. I was off three of those months after I had my girls.

Hi Christa!

I waited until my baby girl was 7 weeks old before I went back. It was tough at first to leave her. I cried like a baby myself that first morning I knew I had to leave. But, keep your head up, it will get easier for the most part. Of course, you will always miss your little one while you are away. It gave me something to look forward to during the day and also gave me more motivation.

Do you already have plans for day care? It does help to have a family or friend help out if you can. It was definently a relief to know that my daugther was with family, versus being with a stranger.

Oh....and don't forget to rest on your days off if you can. Take naps with your little one. It is a little challenging physically, so take it easy your first couple of weeks when you go back to work.

i work full time and went back when both mine turned 6 months, as long as you are prepared for the morning it is easy, the kids love nursery and i get some time to be a person.

Hi, I have 3 children and after each one it was hard to go back to work. It is especially hard if they are sick. One do get use to the new routine and soon everything feels normal again.

Hi Christa,

I must admit that returning to work (albeit part time) was extremely relieveing. For one thing, you re-gain your intellect again (someting you don't use a lot while the baby is young), you get to speak to grown ups without strollers and prams, and finally you get a moment of quite now and then.... Of course there are difficulties but don't forget there are some good things about it as well
