How tough was it mentally and physically for you to go back to work after having the baby? How long did you wait to go back to work?

I went back to work when my son was 8 wks. .only because i had too!Typically your body is ready at 6 wks..I also have a 8 yr old..I work 3rd shift 10 pm. to 6 im only gone while my family is sleeping.well that was the idea, that and not putting the kids in daycare.I dont really like the whole idea of daycare. But 3rd defenitly has it's down side too!especially as my son gets older. My son is 11 mos. btw.One of the biggest challanges is finding time to sleep during the day and or evening time.Thats only opne! But you just have to weigh out the good and the bad. What choice do you have uless you can afford not to work.Another idea is to work in a daycare...thats what i did with my oldest,my daughter. It woerked pretty well.Doesnt pay well but its an income and you can peek in at your child and know they are being taken care of.Also you can spend your breaks with them or sometimes they may even be in your room.though that does cause problems at times.hope this helps!

I had 7 weeks off of work after dd was born. I was physically fine, mentally I was and still am occasionally, a basket case. I won't lie, it's been the hardest thing I've had to do. And I have to do. We can't afford to be a one income family. At least once a month I have a meltdown and feel like I'm missing the most important moments of my daughters life. The one thing that makes me feel good about it is that she's cared for by my stay at home sister who has an daughter 8 months older than dd. So she's nurtured and socialized (she also has 3 older kids; 13, 10, 7) and she's learning so much.
