Made the mistake of rocking him and now he doesn't want to go to sleep! What should I do? Any advise would be appreciated!

u might have to keep going in and telling goodnight but do not pick him up he will learn that it is bedtime and go to sleep, just stick to your guns.

I have found that routine is the best thing for my son. I take him to bed at the same time every night, and we do the same thing: feed his fish, turn on the nightlight, tuck in and read a story. After the story, I kiss him goodnight and leave the room. I too had spent lots of time rocking, cuddling, etc, and I found in the beginning, I had to work my way out of the room. For a few nights, I sat next to him, then moved the chair to the end of the bed, and then a bit further away. eventually I would move out of the room slowly, continuing to let him know I was still there, and once out of the room, was quick to respond to his cries so he had reassurance that I was there. Even now sometimes he doesn't want to sleep right away and will come out of his room, yell, or cry, and the first time I tuck him back in. the second time I yell Good night, I love you. after that i ignore him, and eventually he gets it and goes back to bed. it breaks my heart to ignore him when he cries, but I know it's best for him and it seems to be working. Good luck!!
