Read the book, "On Becoming Baby Wise". It was a life saver when I had my son. It's all about getting them on a regular schedule with feeding as well as sleeping. Maybe it's just coincidental, but my son was sleeping up to 12 hrs at night at about 3 months old and older! Good luck!

The only thing that worked for me was letting him cry it out. It will be hard at first, especially when you are half asleep yourself. I needed to keep a clock in his room so I could see that he really wasn't crying for that long a period of time. It does work.

Even though he is 11 mos. try feeding him about 1/2 a serving of baby cereal along with 1/2 milk or formula cup or bottle. I started doing this when Mac turned 4 days... she started sleeping through the night with in a month. The cereal fills the voind in their tummys, and is easy to digest versus solid cereal or regular oatmeal. You can always mix fruit in the cereal too.

We eventually stopped feeding our daughter during the night, and I gave her a good sized bottle right before bed. She was still waking up and crying for extended periods of time even when we would go in to comfort her. We eventually just let her cry it out one night, and it worked! We don't go in if she wakes in the night, she will usually only be up for a few minutes and fall back asleep on her own. She is now 9 months old andn sleeping anywhere from 10-13 hours straight every night. We also don't let her nap after about 4 pm and try to have lots of play time in the evening to tire her out.
