I am starting the research process to finding an in-home daycare center that is licensed and bonded and close to home. I didn't know if anyone would know if there are websites that list this information or if there are companies that do it for you.

I'm going to be a new mom and both my fiance and myself are employed full time. After maternity leave is over I need to find someone trustworthy and within our price range to drop our little one off at.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you for any help you can give!

Iveta - Thanks for the website. I'll be checking that out over the weekend.

Cara - I had never even thought of WIC. I'll call them as well and see what they can tell me.

Everyone Else - Thanks for the input. I'll try Craig's List Jill. I just needed some starting points. I made the mistake of teasing my 78 year old father and told him I would just be using him as daycare. I thought he was going to have a stroke! I quickly told him I was kidding!

I've never been on the website but my girlfriend does an in home daycare and advertises on "craig's list". She says she gets so many injuiries that way.

Try the WIC office. They usually work with other organizations and can at least point you in the right direction. I have found that most cities and states have a referral service of licensed in-home providers who live either near your home, near your work or in between and have space available for your child. Good Luck. And remember when deciding on daycare always go with you instinct. If something just doesn't feel right then it probably isn't.

In the city that i live in there is an agency that is called....child care resource and referral....they have alot of good information on child care homes.....that is where i found the child care home that my son was in for the first 6 months.....and i loved it there and i still stop and visit once in awhile just to chat with the provider and she is always happy to see Evan.....the agency in my city is all non-profit and all the information is free.....i don't know where you are from or if there is anything like that where you live, but i would suggest maybe calling your department of human services and asking if they know of anything like that in your area.....if there is something liek that they will know about it....good luck and hope i helped.......
