I remember going back with my first, the first few days were rough, I cried all the way to work, but he was watched by loving grandma's so it eased some of the guilt. My kids love their time with grandma and I know that I made the right decision in that regard. I had been home with him for nearly a year and hadn't really worked through my pregnancy with him either. So, it was an awkward transition since I was going to a whole new job that I wasn't familiar with too. But, with my second, it was easier, I actually felt ready to go back at the end of 3 months, just to have some mommy time at work. At the time, I worked at a library, so the quiet was so nice, it was like my own meditation time. Then, I felt recharged when I got back home, plus I only worked part time. This is my first pregnancy working full time, and I will be working full time when I go back after 3 months. I plan to breastfeed, so my only concern is figuring out how to pump, etc in privacy.

Other bonuses...someone else changes diapers for a few hours and you feel connected to the outside world and take better care of yourself.

The hard days to plan for...your child comes down with an illness which requires you to stay home, then the sitter gets it, which requires you to stay home again...always choose somewhere to work that understands that these things happen.

It might be rough on your little one the first couple of days, but they adapt quickly. Let them take a special toy with them from home to focus on and a picture of you in their pocket. :)

I am going back tomorrow. I have only been home for a year. I am ready but I don't know if my 2 year old will be. I hope. I second that going to the bathroom by myself will be great and being able to talk to grown ups. I miss that. Maybe meet some new friends also.

No, sometimes it's nice to be able to have a place where you can go to the bathroom by yourself and eat a full meal when you want to and talk to grown ups.
