How do you get a 13 year old daughter to stop lying and take responsibility for her own mistakes. trying for years but haven't come up with a solution yet.

I think natural consequences work best if its possible. e.g. if you don't wear your boots in the winter, your feet are going to be cold and wet. Also Try to find something that is related to what she lied about. For instance, if she lies and says she did her chores but she didn't, have her do double next time. Or if she lied about where she was after school, make her come straight home for a week. Hope this is helpful.

stop trying..don`t bail her out if she lies to others then she`l have to face up to the consequences. she`s lying cos it gets her lots of attention i guess.

Reverse psychology. Stop doing things for them, getting things for them and sometimes when they ask you something to stare them down and walk away. I tried this a few times and threw in "God don't like ugly" and got my point across. I can't stand lying. Tell me the truth and you won't be in as much trouble if you lie to me.
