Between working, babies and husband...i am in a DESPERATE need to find a mid day pick me up? Any suggestions out there? Preferably healthy... no soda or sugars as I would crash an hour later and wake up to a baby drinking out of the toilet : ) Anybody else running into these problems?

I have the same issue with iron and other vitamins my tummy is just not ok with them. I really like Larabar's. They natural and filling. There is a book called skinny b*tch. I used it to loose my 10 years of left over baby weight, hahaha, and follow it now because I feel so great, high energy. It is super simple and easy to follow, there are shopping lists and ideas, recipes and lots of great info. Another great way to get a pick me up is 20 minutes of cardio. It is amazing what that can do for you. a boost like no other. Good luck!

What a help!! I don't take a multi vitamin because they make me sick. I'll start taking them at night like i did with my prenatals and see if that helps. Seriously, your reply is so full of great info. Can i ask why you went to your doc? Did you ask him specifically about being run down and tired? The only reason I ask is because i know that I have two kids and work and I know that in and of itself is exausting, but I don't know when to worry about anything serious. I'm going to try all of this... up my vitamin intake, start getting more meats and cheeses and iron fortified foods and see how i feel. Thank you SO much... I was so sick of soda : )

My doctor suggested those premixed protein shakes, like Boost or the like.  They don't taste bad, a little bit sweet, but do have magor protein.  Other easy protein snacks are hard boiled eggs, sandwich meat (just roll and eat), some granola bars have protein, you just have to read the labels, cheese, yogurt, etc.  Your problem may also be lack of iron.  Of course red meat is high iron, but so are dark green vegetables (spinach and brocolli) dried fruit and once again, granola bars.  Find the right granola/trail mix type bar that you like and always keep one on hand.  Do you take a multi-vitamin?

That's my biggest problem. Everything I eat has to be fast and easy. I'm running into more snack foods than anything else or I just won't eat. If it can't be made in a matter of minutes or packed into a tupperware container, it's just not gonna work : ) I guess i need to make a better effort of taking care of my meals. Obviously the fiber part is easy, but can you suggest any quick and easy protein snacks?

I agree, I was going to suggest the same thing. Protein. Also make sure you eat small meals throughout the day. Every 3 hrs. Add some fiber too. This will keep you fuller longer. Never skip meals, especially breakfast!

Thank you so much! I just looked up a bunch of high protein foods and this looks completely do-able : )
