My 3 year old won't go to bed by himself, I have to lay on his floor while he sleeps. Sometimes I'm lying on the floor for over an hour. I've tried everyhting I can think of. I don't know what else I can do?

My oldest was like this, and I had to break him of it when I was pregnant with my daughter. I remember the first night, it was so hard to listen to him cry, I talked to my mom on the phone, as she reminded me that I was doing the right thing. I went in every 15 minutes to check on him (make sure he didn't pinch his fingers in anything, or anything like that). Then I would pick him up, give him a hug, tell him I love him, and tuck him in in his bed. By the third night, it took less than 10 minutes for him to fall asleep.
The key for me, was to re-tuck him in every 15 minutes, and to have that support person to call.

try breaking him gradually.... tell him that tonight you will lay down for 15 mins... stick to the time frame, the next night shorten down a little bit. Set his expectation that he is a big boy and that you will be so proud of him. I know it's hard, I had to do the same with one of my girls. Sometimes you have to let them cry ( trust me I know that is hard to listen too) but in the end you will be glad you did.
