I don't understand why my child is saying hes going to run away from us if we send him to school. He was just accepted into the prek program and me and his father are excited for him to start a new chapter and meet friends and start learning. He does not seem to care and said that he does not want any friends and he does not want to learn anything and just wants to stay home. Me and my husband did the bribe thing but it doesn't work I no we shouldn't but we thought it would atleast work but it has an opposite effect. We said we will get him a toy, or a lizard, or a dog or something else he has been askin for and he said nope never mind I don't want it if I have to go to school. He is really smart but it is frustrating for us as partents to go thru this since we don't understand why he is acting the way he is. Will it get better?

My son didn't want to go to school, he had always been in my husbands or my care. When we sent him at 4 we called it play school. Initially when he went he had a tendency to stay near the teachers while outside playing but we knew that was going to happen. Once he went he was fine we just made sure to keep talking about the positive fun experiences he would have while at school.
