This is the age that girls (especially) unfortunately are going through their hormonal development, trying to assert their indipendance and of course, think that they know all they need, or there is to know and all this knowlege was gained in their short 10 years! I know, I have one too! How to make them sweeter...difficult, how to break them of the habit? CONSEQUENCES! It's hard to negotiate with a child under the age of 12. Their brains have not developed that function fully, they need to know the difference between adult and child. Sass = punishment. In our case the i-pod goes away. Meanness = time out ,i.e no TV etc for the rest of the day or next day, do NOT back down when you apply discipline and make sure both parents are on the same page ( that includes grandmas etc!) It's tough....I know but it does work if you're consistent. Good luck...perhaps all 10 year old girls should be locked up in the same room untill they get over themselves...who knows!? LOL!

You can't. All you can do is talk to her and see if there is anything that is bugging her. Sometimes girls are just mean. I personally was horrible to my mother between 9-14 and it was because I thought she didnt spend enough time with me, yet she didnt let me have any freedom..... hope this helps....
