My job won’t grant me baby bonding help!

I was taken out of work December 5 because I developed severe preeclampsia and ended giving birth by emergency c section December 22. My daughter was born 2 months early and spend the first month of her life in the NICU I was given my
8 week extension for my surgery. I just called my job about taking my 6 week baby bonding and HR told me that all this time I had been out counted as my maternity leave even though it was for a illness it was pregnancy related. I don’t understand what to do, I’ve barely had my daughter home less than a month and I’d already have to go back to work. I thought I’m entitled to my baby bonding still? I need help

If you worked in your job for more than a year, you can get that family leave act because you did just have this child and that can get you up to several weeks off but do not expect to be paid for the time off--unless you have sick leave or presonal or vacation time coming to you.
