I have a 2 year old son and he has had night terror problems for some time now, after taking him to his pediatrician, we have been doing some vitamin supplementing that seems to be helping some. However he's still waking up scared once or twice a night. Any suggestions?

my son who is now 18 when he was little he had them, we talked to the doctor and it was b/c he wasnt falling in a deep sleep stage. its actually like sleep walking except he is having a nightmare. We were told about the meals b4 bed and also a scheduled bed time (not enough quaility sleep can also cause this) and when he does have these do not yell to wake him up you may make this spell worse just say his name in a loving voice trying to calm him down tell him its only a dream but he is only 2 it is hard for a 2 yr old to seperate dream for reality the doctors also told us not to grab him if he tries to run to just make sure he wasnt going to get hurt. My son had them till about 8 or 9 years old but the older he got the less it happend he had actually taught himself to wake up while having bad dreams...GOOD LUCK and remember have patients

My sister also had them. For her it was all about not being over tired. We got to the point we could actually predict them based on her schedule!

My little sister had them when she was little. something that helped her to slow or stop them all together was, the Dr. told my mom that she should not eat meat after 7:00 pm. the body is working too hard to digest the meat and the mind doesn't have the time to rest. good luck.
