My son was very nervous to strat school and I found he did well with routine and expectations at school. He at times did better at school than at home where he tended to feel more comfortable. At our school we have counselors who work with kids with all concerns.

Have you tried talking to him about it? My daughter used to be afraid to BE in her room, let alone sleep in it. We talked to her quietly and calmly about why she was scared. She let us know after awhile that she didn't want to be alone. Finally we told her that her glow worm toy would keep her safe and keep away all the nasties! Now, I don't know a lot about your boy but it would not hurt for him to talk to a counselor. I do not suggest putting him on medication or anything that extreme. Just try to get him to talk to someone, anyone, to help work him out of this phase. Please contact me if you want to talk further. I have worked limitedly with special needs children (not saying your son is one) and I have lots of tips on how to handle short tempers.
