Hai, Sanjoli, I agree with Carrie and Liz ... try to accompany him when go to sleep .. hold him and tell some funny story with a funny picture in a book ... Sometimes it will happen because get tired from their daily activity also.. you know, kids that age ussually jump and run ...  for my 18 months boy, i ussually massage his leg while im singing a song ... hope it work for your son also....

Hi Sanjoli: Try a night light and a small radio on to soft music.... My girls when they were younger, loved to sleep to music and they still do. When you first put him to bed, put the music on while your stil there and maybe read him a story to help him sleep better. I hope this helps you. Please let me know how it goes.Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi  Sanjoli my daughter is 6 and she has night terrors as well.   all you can really do is limit the stimulation before bed and them when they have them and let thme know it is ok.  sometimes they can be triggered by something that is bothering them or a sudden change in their routine.
