I have a wonderful childcare giver who provides services out of her home. I have always known that her personal religion is a large part of her life, however, lately she has been having services and “guests” in her home. On three occasions now, I have dropped off my child and there have been 1-2 “ministers” staying at her home. I have nothing against her religion, to each his own, however I do have issues with people that I do not know interacting with my child. Does anyone have any thoughts about this?

Your obligation as a parent it to make sure your child is safe healthy. It is your right to know who your child is being exposed to (Religion or not, they are strangers to you and your child). Hopefully you can have an open discussion and express your thoughts and feelings and any good baby sitter will totally get where you are coming from. Just have the chat and see how it goes, you will never feel comfortable until you do!

Absolutely you should have issue with people you do not know interacting with your child. It is not a personal issue against your childcare provider it is a personal issue with your child and the place you consider as a personal haven for your child. Listen to your instincts as a mom. They are always right. If it bothers you on the inside, it should!! Ask for a meeting with your babysitter maybe and talk to her about your feelings. If she does not give you a good feeling move your children elsewhere. As moms, we should feel selfish when it comes to our inner gut feelings. Your children come first and if you end up offending someone, of course not on purpose, then so be it. Let me know how it goes.
