I was watching Sprout one day on O-Demand and they were recommending having "checks". Put your child to bed at a scheduled time with a bedtime routine beforehand including the brushing of the teeth, books, etc... and then the last thing you say, before you kiss him goodnight, is that you will be back to check on him in five minutes. This is supposed to provide the child with comfort and knowing that you are coming back eases his anxiety. So, keep checking on him every five minutes (and as he quiets down increase the time and eventually stop) by opening the door and saying "Checking" and then shut the door; do not go in to talk or tuck him in (you can do this after he is asleep). If he hops out of bed, I guess you will have to start all over again... I am sure at first it will be hard at first but after awhile the child should get used to the routine and eventually fall asleep having comfort that he is being watched over. There might be more helpful ideas on the Sprout Website! Good luck!
