My husband has been a stay-at-home dad for several years. We're finding it economically impossible these days though, and are looking for him to find employment. Anyway have a stay-at-home dad situation?

Thanks for the input, ladies. Glad to know there's other dad out there enjoying it! There's certainly not much of it taking place in our neck of the woods! Sounds like you've found a nice arrangement for your family, Kathy! We used to do foster care, and he did work at night job where he slept for part of the 6 1/2 years he's been staying at home, but we haven't been doing that for 2 1/2 years now. I am a clinical supervisor at a non-profit private agency, but the money gets awfully thin spread among 6 of us! Just curious how/if others do it. Thanks again.

My husband has been a stay-at-home dad for four years with our daughter. He does work at a golf course in the spring/summer on a few evenings and weekends. Since I'm a teacher, he can get in a few solid weeks of work in the summer, too. The helpful thing about seasonal work is that the hours are often more flexible...and working at a golf course includes all the free golf he can stand.

My friend's husband is a stay at home dad....he actually watches a couple of other people's kids to help make ends meet. They have 3 of their own children and he watches two others during the school year and adds one more for the summer (the sister of one of the two he has all year). He's not licensed or anything just doing it for friends, they get a break on the price and he makes some extra money for the family....besides he LOVES it.
