Hi, don't worry... I'm tattooed, have piercing's and on occasion have strange hair colors.... and no, I'm not a freak, I work for the government and have a respectable (public) job and am reasonably educated. The point is, I take it you are happy with the way you look, why feel attacked by the misunderstanding other people display? You can handle it several different ways, some times I would be super polite just to try to open their eyes, help at school as a parent, or if it would be a particular nasty display of a stranger, I would (loudly) explain to my daughter (as if she just asked a question) that the lady/gentleman ( I use the term loosely ) looks so boring/angry because she chooses to, and we all have to respect individual choices and taste....  anyway, know who you are and how you want to raise your child.... that is more than enough to worry about! have fun, enjoy your tats, child and life!

So don't let it bug you people always have to have something to stare at!!!

My fiance has ful sleeves and at first my kids were kinda embarrassed so he covered them up. Now that they know and love him the tats don't bother them at all.  I don't think we have ever had a negative reaction but maybe it's causehe a guy and it's more acceptable.  For Fathers Day he is getting a new one for our baby daughter and my kids are helping pick it out!

I recently got my first tattoo, my right side from the top of my ribs to my hip, its a butterfly with my childrens initials in it. My older daughter told her friends who thought it was cool, but their mothers apparently not so much. One of the moms asked me if I had really gotten a tat and I said happily yes, you could immediatly see the look of disgust come on her face. I said I think its a beautiful way to express yourself. She still gives the look every now and then when my daughter talks about it. But I really don't care. I work hard and I take care of my kids and they have everything they need and more. So if I wanted to do something for myself that I enjoyed then I enjoy it, regardless what other ppl think. Don't let those few small minded ppl get to you. As long as you are a good mother and take care of your kids it shouldn't matter....

I realy wouldnt let them bother you, they probably have art on their walls at home, just some of us show art in a different way. I have 5 tatts which i love which all represent different things.

I have ten tattoos and I have always loved them. Some of mine are solely for my children. You should never feel bad because that is the way you express yourself. Tattoos could go to the verge of making you a better mother because it teaches your children to be more open minded and not to judge other people,

I have no tatoos but I respect all of yo because you care for your children. The tatoos are like earrings or clothes who cares as long as you love your kids and treat them right. This too shall pass!!

At 43 I just got my first tattoo a few weeks ago. My kids love the fact that I did it because it is something I always wanted but just never did. Like others have said, too many people are judgemental...if you like having tattoos then don't give a second thought to those who don't know you. Who knows maybe the stare is a wishing they had the nerve to do it :-)

I only have one tattoo on my upper back. So most of the time it is covered up. I do want to get more though. People are too judgmental! The deffinition  of a mother is not how you look but how you treat your kids! It is hard to not pay attention to people staring, but they will always find something wrong! Today it may be tattoos, tomorrow someone may think your hair cut is not mother like! We have to be confident in knowing we are doing the best we can and the best for our kids!

I think it might be one of the reasons why I made sure to act like the best most patient mother in the world when I was younger- which, of course I am anyway lol! Now, I mainly wear 3/4 lenth sleves anyway and they cover the tattoos. To tell you the truth, I hate my tattoos especially when I am at the beach. I have had to sit there and tell myself that I am an awesome mother who is highly educated and a generally nice person and that makes me feel better. Anyone who makes such snap superficial judgments really isn't worth feeling insecure over.

I have 11 soon to be 13 tattoos total and I get stupid looks from people all the time. As long as your not wasting your money on tattoos instead of taking care of your children who cares what other people think. My 6 year old son has even went with me when I have gotten tattoos done he leaves with a tattoo too (airbrush of coarse).
