It will pass.  My now 2yr old used to grind his teeth.  I would just try to distract him as much as possible or give him something to chew on, but I think some amount of grinding is normal.  Afterall, have you noticed how sharp some of those teeth are... they could use a little dulling down :-)

Yes, my baby started doing that around seven months, but I just told him "don't grind" and rubbed his cheeks. He doesn't do it much anymore at all now - he is 10 months. It will pass! :)

Ugh, my son used to do it at this age and now that my daughter (9 months) has gotten her top two teeth she's doing it too (terrible noise).  I got my son to stop relatively easily.  Everytime I heard him doing it I would press my pointer finger firmly (not harshly but hard enough so he would feel it) and firmly say "no" and within a few weeks he stopped.  I've begun doing this with my daughter so hopefully it will work for her to.

it wont pass, it gets worse. my son is 9 and i got him a special mouth gaurd from the dentist to wear to bed. besides stopping the grinding from destroying his teeth, it also helps his teeth grow in correctly, which will prevent braces. your sons to young for it but keep in mind for the future its around $400, but it saves thousands later.

My son did that at about that age. I think he did it because he was getting used to having teeth. Grated he got his first tooth at 6 months. Give him as many things to chew on as possible. My son loves blankets to chew on. If he is getting more teeth that could be it too. Wiliam is now 16 months and doesn't do it anymore.

Thanks Karin.  Actually I just noticed him doing it last night while he was eating dinner... he'd chew on a cheerio and then grind his teeth together.  As you can see from my profile picture, he'll chew anything he can sink his teeth into!  Just waiting for 3 more top teeth to break through, one has come through so I imagine it's a bit painful for him right now, poor little guy!
