The first weeks...

I went back to work in July after Gavin turned one. It felt great having a whole year with him. When I went back to work, we hired a nanny. She was so wonderful, but she was older, and it got to be more than she wanted to do. Two weeks ago we put our son in daycare. That was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Some days he could care less that I'm leaving him. Other days he cries big crocodile tears and won't let go of me. On the bad days I feel so guilty, but I know that I'm doing the right thing. I usually get back into my car and wipe away my tears because some day when he's old enough, he'll understand.

I remember a Saturday when my daughter was waiting by the door ready to go to daycare - and then cried because she had to stay stay home!

Hang in there! My son was doing the same thing when I first went back. My daycare told me he was fine as soon left and told me to wait by the door (out of sight). Within a minute, tears were gone and he was off to his activities. My next challenge is when I go back from this time to try and drop off two!
