traveling mommies

Is there anyone in this group that has to travel for work for days at a time and it requires you to have to leave your kids with a family member or any other type of paid help? How do you cope with the guilty feelings you get when you have to leave them? What are you doing for care if your child is in school? Thanks

If you don't have options, you have to do your best to put those guilty feelings out of your mind if you're certain your child is safe and well cared for.

Perhaps sitting in (unexpectedly) on your paid help (care center, etc.) will reassure you if you're wondering if your child is getting the best care.

My infant just spent three days in the hospital. I spent all afternoon, each day, with him. At night, my husband and I really struggled with where we should the hospital, or at home. I felt guilty leaving him alone with the nurses, but realizing that 1) he'd be well cared for by the nurses and 2) that I'd be a better parent for both of my boys if I got some real sleep helped me through those feelings of guilt. After two nights of real sleep (as much as I could get, away from my babies), I WAS better prepared to take care of my boys when they both came home.
