Does anyone have any suggestions to help me to get my son to start using sipper cups and get him off of using a bottle? He's 16 months old. Thanks

for me when i converted my kids from the bottle to the sippy cups i just quit giving them the bottle. they put up a fight with it for a little while but eventually when they got thirsty they learned to use it. just make sure when you introduce the sippy cup that you start him off with a slow flow adjuster on it untill he gets the hang of it then you can put a faster flow attachmen on it. but its like chrisitna said its tough love, but sometimes its the only way.

If he is 16 months, would you be willing to try a straw cup vs a sippy cup? We skipped sippy cups altogether with my little girl, she went from bottles straight to those straw cups and loves them. Love the flavoring idea Isabela gave thats a good idea as well! It sometimes comes down a little tough love and throwing out the bottles so there is no choice but the sippy cups or straw cups. Thats easier said than done though ;o)!

throw away the bottles so they are not an option for you to give him when he starts whining for one. eventually he will drink from the cup.

I was told to try a straw. I would blow bubbles first, she learned and then graduated to those sucking cups.

When easter came and I hid all the treats all over before my babys got up. Then when they got up I told them that the easter bunny took the bottles and left treats. You could try something like that with the next holiday. Or make up a special holiday like the tooth fairy. They will forget all about it in a couple of weeks. I never got one protest when I did it this way. I think because they thought the bottles where gone and that was that.

Try finding the tops that are soft and have 2 handles. give him his cup and nothing else and let him try it without you watching.

I'm not sure if he likes sweet flavouring, my Aunt used a little bit of vanilla syrup thats sugar-free and would rub the sucking part of the cup with it, if it has pretty good handles you shouldn't have to worry much, I heard the nuby is a pretty good kind
