Leah is 9 months and has been teething since she was 3 months and still not one has come through - her cheeks are always so bright red - i wondered what was the normal age for her to get her first tooth?

My twin daughters are 9.5 months now, and only 1 has a single tooth that came from about the age 8 months. All my friends babies started teething around 4 months and most have 4-8 teeth already and are of 8-12 months old. I thought my girls were the only ones who were going to wait until a year old to start teething!

It's different for every baby.

My daughter is 6 1/2 months old with no teething in site. I asked her doctor about it and she mentioned that teething can very well be hereditary. She asked when I got my first tooth and it was when I was 12 months old...so Madison may very well be the same.

Their gums are very strong though so no worries in the eating department. We do BLW'ing (baby led weaning) and she eats tons of fruit, toast, rice cakes...no problem. :)

Hey Victoria,

Rule of thumb is not to worry too much (if you can see the teeth) until they are 18months. After this it is just a simple procedure to assist the teeth through they will slice their gums and down they will come. :) Untill then perseverance with dribble, dry cheeks and crankyness. I would say they shouldn't be too far off by the sounds of things but if they are dont worry.

My first boy had his 1st tooth by 6 months. My 8 month old's 1st tooth just broke through yesterday. It never is text book...Drs say that the longer it takes for teeth to come in the better quality they are.

She'll probably get a few at a time then. My daughter started teething at 3 months as well and get her first tooth at 5 months. She's 17 months now and has had all but her 2-year-old molars since 15 months. My friend's daughter got her first and second tooth a couple weeks after her 1st b-day.

All her gums are white and you can see the shape of her teeth through her gums, her gums are so hard but they have been like that for months - but just seems to be taking ages - She has been biting on her teething ring alot more this last week -

The adverage is somewhere between 6months to 12 months. Every child is different. I was a dental hygenist for 12 years and I was alittle concerned when my first child was delayed. She was 11 months. 2nd daughter was age 12 months. My son suprised me @ 7 months. Usually you will notice a heavy amount of saliva a few weeks out. My first daughter used to get bright cheek within an 30 min of eatting.
