So worth it! The only thing I would change is that I would start pumping much sooner, before I went back to work, consistently. I would pump a little, just to get used to my pump, but not very often. Now I struggle to make sure I've got plenty of milk for the next day at the sitters. I haven't had to supplement yet, but the thought's always in the back of my mind. Hopefully it won't come to that.

La leche makes a pumping bra (expressiva.com has them on sale) but some regular nursing bras can work too, just attach the shields and then clip over them.

Oh and P.S. A good pump is totally worth the money because when you have a good one it's not such hard work! (make sure you keep eating too, milk production is directly related to caloric intake...like you need around 3000 cals a day!)

You basically pump everytime that your baby will eat (have your milk) away from you. You've got to keep the supply going! And trust me, if you've been nursing and then don't pump you will be uncomfortable and start leaking all over again for awhile. When I work my daughter usually only has one feeding so I only pump once (I don't worry too much about how much I get I just pump). 2 feedings-2 pump times etc. It's worth it!!

I've been pumping from home to have milk on hand when we travel or when I'm at church or something. That's not been too hard, but I'm returning to work next month and don't know what to expect. Any advice? How many times during the work day do you pump?

I've started keeping a journal of what is going on in our lives and what the kids are doing while I am pumping. Gets me thinking about the baby which seams to help with the milk production, relaxes me, and give me something I can go back and look at to help trigger memories of this precious time.

Do any of you use breastpumping bras at work? Does it make it easier? I heard just cutting a sports bra woudl work but does that mean we have to wear a bra over that?

Definitely makes you feel like a dairy cow... sometimes I laugh during my pump sessions and moo a bit. :) It is worth it. I have pumped twice already - for 10 months with daughter 1 and all 12 months with daughter 2.

It is work, but I have found it to be worth while. I try to use the time when I pump to think about my son. Good luck, and keep it up!

I second that. It can be done. This is my second go around with pumping and working. I would not change a thing.
